Ny underklasse

Once again I am almost struck speechless. A small political party, Liberal Alliance, who used to be a tiny bit sensible until they let a politician named Simon Emil Ammitzbøll join them, suggest that immigrants should be banned from public health care of any kind until they have stayed in the country for 7 years, instead they need a private insurance to cover their medical needs. I know this isn’t too unusual for some, but here in Denmark, this is almost beyond belief. And of course, rarely have a politician been beyond belief like Simon Emil A. His self-satisfied cold smile, his disgusting and fake behaviour, and his ability to stab fellow politicians in their back while smiling a smile that never reaches his eyes…A true coward, who once felt the need to say the truth about the leader of the party he was formerly a member of. Not face to face, of course, but in a newspaper, published the day after he left for the States for an extended stay. This way, he was better able to see if people agreed and suddenly cried out for a true hero like himself to assume leadership, or if people saw through him and took him for what he is.

Besides being, like before mentioned, incredibly sleazy and unsympathetic, he is now the spokesman for a political idea that will create a new lower class in Denmark. Private healthcare is a nessecary evil which we unfortunately have to accept, even though it is beyond me how anyone can bring themselves to buy one. This is a subject on which I will definetly return at a later date. But to say that a large group of people should be outside normal medical care for 7 years…..”We want to make sure that only ressourceful/educated immigrants come to Denmark. We need bright people, and no doubt their employer will pay for health care for them.” I can just imagine the debate first time one of these ressourceful/educated immigrants gets sick, looses his job, and looses his employer-paid healthcare. “But, the man is sick, he needs to see a doctor, Mr. Ammitzbøll”. “No! He was sick back when he was a ressourceful/educated immigrant, but now that he is unemployed, he is a useless beggar. Let him lie”. Certainly a new way to treat your fellow humans, right?

In Denmark, there is a tradition (well, until a certain Bush-loving government opened up for health insurances, at least) for free and equal access to health care. It is not just a tradition, it is actually part of our law, stated just like that. Free and equal access to health care. I seriously hope it will take a lot more than a creep like Simon Emil Ammitzbøll, who makes disease-spreading bacteria seem like good dinner companions in comparison, to change that. “Denmark can’t be a social service-office for the entire world”, he says. Well here is a funny thought, just for you, since this suggestion is made to save money. How about never again using a single dime to create safety/equality/rights for homosexuals? (note here : Simon Emil is one of the few openly homosexual politicians in our parliament) How about making a law stating that any and all rights for homosexuals, like the one making it illegal to discriminate them due to their sexuality, doesn’t apply until they have been out of the closet for 7 years? Can you say yes to that, or is it less fun when it risks harming yourself or people like you? How you will ever manage to look at yourself in a mirror, and not feel any disgust, is waaaay beyond me, but I will make sure to comment on it next time you want to kick people who are already down.
