It is no secret at all that my regard for the European Union can be located on the tip of a very small pin, with more than enough room around it to cheat with financial aid. But the danish politicians do quite well in the ‘low regard’ area. Today, our medias have written numerous articles about a law that before may 1st allowed foreigners, primarily eastern europeans, to have our child support payment check granted, without doing anything for it except work for 9 hours in Denmark pr week. After may 1st, there was no 9 hour limit, it could be just 1 minute of work pr week.
Now our politicians want to change that, since that was never the purpose with our social services. It was intended for people living in Denmark, not spending an hour pr week or so. But why today? What made this date so special? It seems quite clear that no danish politician had any idea that this law existed, at all! Even the always-screaming Mette Frederiksen, one of my pet-aversions, has stated that this needs to be changed. And she will probably stand by that point of view until she travels to another country, just like private schools were evil and public schools good, until her own kids reached school age, and were sent to a private school.
I would find it amusing, if a newspaper would find various examples of EU-laws, and some weird made-up examples, and then ask our politicians to determine/guess, without looking it up, which of them were actual laws, and which were not. But all this just confirms what I have always said : The European Union is a deadweight, without any reason to existence. A trade union was one thing, but a political union can never end well. It isn’t easy to predict the future, but the past says I am right, since very few political unions between separate states has ended in anything but violence and blood.
Assuming we will ever be allowed to vote on anything regarding the EU again : Vote NO to anything concerning EU, if you have even the slightest doubt as to what to think. If the general vote is no, you will be asked again until you get it right. But if you (and a majority) votes yes, you will never get a chance to reconsider anything.
This all leads to the 7th Commandment : Never vote yes to anything regarding the EU.
